Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need insurance when moving?

The short answer is yes. As good as any removalist is, accidents do happen. We have the Transit Insurance and Public Liability like any other professional removalist. That means you are covered if your item gets damaged in the unlikely event of an accident, flooding, hijacking etc. Your insurance should provide extra cover for your move. We recommend visiting www.removalsinsurance.com.au to ensure you are covered in case something goes wrong. If you decline to take out insurance, but damage occurs, you will not be able to make any claim for damage sustained.

  • Will my furniture be disassembled and reassembled during the move?

Quality movers carry a basic tool kit that allows them to disassemble and reassemble common household furniture pieces easily.

  • What items are movers unable to shift?

Most movers are not licensed carriers of flammable and dangerous goods, and they cannot move the following items: gas bottles, paint thinners, aerosol cans, cooking oils, cleaning solvents, matches and firelighters, pesticides, turpentine, kerosene, weed killers, swimming pool treatments, firearms, ammunition or toxic materials.

We suggest transporting these items yourself or hiring a company with the relevant qualifications.

  • When should I call the delivery company?

You should contact a mover as early as possible. If you wait for a couple of days before the preferred date, the removalist might be busy on that day. That is why you want to book your desired time as soon as possible.

  • How long does it take to move my items?

That depends on the specific assignment. But if you are moving an entire home, you need to factor in the time required for loading, transporting and unloading the items. Make sure to request an estimated timeframe from your removalist.
